Week 22 Highlights
How far along: 22 weeks
Size of baby: A spaghetti squash! She is weighing in at approximately 1 pound and is 11 inches in length.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Still down about 9 lbs. Based on the amount of food I'm consuming on the cruise, I know I'm finally gaining some weight. I don't know how I'll survive without mounds of fresh pineapple everyday.
How I'm Changing: Belly is growing! It is clear that I'm with child. Many friendly people on the cruise asked when we are due, if baby is a boy or girl, and guessed correctly that this was our first baby. Luckily no one tried to touch me. Since puberty I've been a little on the chunky side and I've always been so worried that I would be one who gained weight all over and would never have a cute baby belly. I'm so pleasantly surprised with how my body is changing. This might be the first time in my adult life I actually like the way my body looks. Maybe I'm finally giving myself a break and not being so critical. I'm making another human after all! It is pretty amazing that my body can do this.
Maternity Clothes: With the exception of my yoga pants, I am in maternity pants full time. I packed many non-maternity dresses for the cruise, but for some, their days are numbered. I also purchased some maternity swimsuits for the cruise.
Gender: Girl
Movements: YES! She is very active and her kicks are getting stronger. At 22 weeks and 2 days I started feeling kicks a little higher and Blake was able to feel her on the evening of 22 weeks 6 days. It was very faint for him, so we're excited for her movements to become stronger. She loved all the music on the cruise.
Sleep: I am waking up several times a time to re-position to get more comfortable and up out of bed 1-2 times a night for bathroom breaks/pacing the room because of leg and foot cramps.
Symptoms: My first ever week without vomiting! It was a miracle! Also, I'm so glad I packed several maxi dresses to hide my cankles! My feet and ankles have begun to swell this week. I think it is a combination of being more active, the heat, and I'm sure the increased sodium in the food we're consuming.
How I'm feeling: Fantastic! I was tired every afternoon, but able to rest a lot.
What I Miss: Moving more easily and having my normal supply of energy.
Cravings: Pineapple and desserts -all readily available on the boat! Also milk! I've never been a milk person, but I HAVE to have it every morning.
Best Moment of the Week: Simply being on vacation, and of course, Blake feeling her move.
What I am Looking Forward To: Being home with our fur-babies and my doctor's appointment. Also starting on the nursery. I hope we can get it painted before Christmas. Time is flying!
Above: 22 weeks, 1 day on the boat in the port at San Juan, Puerto Rico waiting for the rain to stop. Spoiler alert - it didn't.
Right: 22 weeks, 2 days at Philipsburg, Sint Maarten (Dutch side)
Below: 22 weeks, 2 days I think this was on the French side of Saint-Martin. Isn't the color of the ocean insane?!
Loving these updates!!
